Georgiana Nertea has more than 15 years of public accounting and advisory experience.
Ms. Nertea’s career began as an auditor of financial statements with a focus on the financial services industry.
The last 13 years have been dedicated to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency practice where she has been responsible for providing services in Chapter 11 cases for debtors, trustees and unsecured creditors’ committees, trustees in Chapter 7 cases, receivers and federal agencies.
These services include forensic investigations concerning diversion of assets, bankruptcy fraud and misappropriation of funds, investigations of fraudulent conveyances, preference actions and insider transfers on behalf of trustees, analysis and reconciliation of proofs of claim and operating reports preparation, as well as tax matters. Ms. Nertea has conducted in-depth research analyses of historical financial and operational performance of companies in distress as well as developed strategic considerations for the sale process.
Ms. Nertea has augmented the M&A processes, identified additional sources of recovery, analyzed complex cash flow budgets and prepared variance reports for Chapter 11 unsecured creditors’ committees.
Prior to joining Sherwood Partners, Inc., Ms. Nertea was a Senior Manager in the Bankruptcy and Restructuring Group at EisnerAmper LLP.
Prior to joining EisnerAmper LLP, Ms. Nertea was an Associate in the Financial Services Audit Division of Arthur Andersen LLP.
Ms. Nertea holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Syracuse University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
She is a graduate of the Investment Banking Institute in New York and holds a Business German Certificate from the Goethe Institute.
She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA).
Ms. Nertea is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA), Turnaround Management Association (TMA), American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA) and the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) of which she is a past Board Member and present Member of the “IWIRC at the Shore” Conference Planning Committee.
She is the Founder of the Orange Circle of Restructuring and Litigation.
Ms. Nertea is the Recipient of the Women in Achievement Award-Renaissance Award-by the New York Institute of Credit Women’s Division.
Ms. Nertea is fluent in Romanian and German and understands basic French and Italian.
