Kumar Singla has over nineteen years of experience in various operational and financial advisory roles for deeply distressed companies including interim CEO/CFO roles, corporate restructurings and CRO positions, operating partner roles, capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, cash management and creditor negotiations, along with roles in private equity, corporate development, and management consulting.
Prior to joining Sherwood Partners, Mr. Singla provided investment banking services (including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity capital raising, and leveraged finance) and restructuring advisory (both in-court and out-of-court) to large-cap and middle-market companies on behalf of Duff & Phelps, LLC. Prior to his role at Duff & Phelps, Mr. Singla advised debtors and creditors on various engagements on behalf of a restructuring boutique formed by former partners of Zolfo Cooper, LLC. Key industries of focus for Mr. Singla have been industrial and manufacturing, consumer and retail, technology, healthcare and life sciences, media, business services, financial institutions, and national sports franchises.
Mr. Singla has also worked in corporate development and merger and acquisitions including a position reporting to the Chairman of ICF International, a publicly-held government defense contractor based in Virginia with $0.5 billion in revenue. Mr. Singla previously worked for a New York-based private equity firm, Merchants Capital Partners, and in the transaction advisory group of CohnReznick LLP with a focus on operational and financial due diligence and valuation advisory. Mr. Singla began his career as a management and strategy consultant at Sapient Corporation.
Mr. Singla holds an M.B.A. from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree and graduated cum laude from Georgetown University. Mr. Singla is active in the Turnaround Management Association (TMA), Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), and Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA).
