David Johnson
Vice President
David Johnson has ten years of experience in financial advisory and business restructuring roles including operational improvement, expense reduction, and litigation resolution. During his tenure at Sherwood Partners Mr. Johnson has advised the investors, lenders, or management of over thirty companies.
Prior to joining Sherwood, Mr. Johnson was a Director of Asset Management at a $13 billion (assets) publicly-traded REIT. Specializing in underperforming properties, he managed the workout, exchange, and/or disposition of over $500 million of commercial real estate. Previously Mr. Johnson was a Managing Director of a boutique investment bank where he provided advisory services to privately-held companies in the food and direct mail industries. Additionally, he assisted in the launch of the firm’s activist hedge fund, identifying and investing in underperforming companies.
Mr. Johnson spent four years with an international turnaround management firm in various capacities, including as Vice President of a $150 million business services company. During that time the operations of the company were completely overhauled, the balance sheet restructured, and the company prepared for a successful sale. Other activities included providing interim management, forensic accounting and valuation services for a national health care organization.
Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Economics from Franklin & Marshall College. He earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2004.
